About the Olympia Jazz Scene and the Band Obrador

Michael Moore grew up in Olympia and was in the center of the flourishing music scene in the 1960s and beyond. He was a founding member of the jazz/Latin/funk band called Obrador, and talks about their gigs in the Northwest and the band’s experiences travelling and performing in Cuba. Michael passed away shortly after this interview in 2023. He was 76.

Tom Dyer is an Olympia musician, music historian and producer, and local radio personality. He interviewed Michael on his KAOS radio program called Freeform NW.
