John Woo Screen Prints
This is a sampling of large-format silk screen posters designed and printed by John Woo, a 1976 graduate of Evergreen. John built a silk screen studio in the basement of Blanco y Negro, the house he shared with other students including fellow printer Greg Falxa. John created posters for many multicultural, music, and arts events during his years at Evergreen. These prints were salvaged from Blanco y Negro before the craftman-style house across from the old hospital on Sherman Street was moved to make room for an office building. As such, they are not the best quality prints. Some are just proofs or transparencies used to expose photo emulsions. John employed a variety of styles and techniques, including bold typography, hand-cut stencils, ink drawings, high contrast photos, and spray paint.
